Sheffield Business Park Car Share
An online database was set up in September 2007 for anyone working in Sheffield Business Park to enable each other to match journeys and ultimately share a journey (usually to/from work).
"The overall aim of the scheme is to allow people to get to the business park easier, but it also provides members with other benefits:
- Reduced congestion
- Easier to park – the more people who car share = less cars
- Lower fuel costs
- Less wear and tear on vehicles
- Chance to meet new contacts / friends
Sheffield Business Park worked with Sheffield City Council and the Highways Agency to set up the car share scheme. A launch event was held in September 2007 to promote the scheme to all occupiers on the park, with a prize draw for people who registered. 20 people at the event registered on the day. As of March 2009 there are 89 members with a 32% match rate (people who have been in touch with each other after finding a match).
The online database is run from the Liftshare database, and they provide an administration site for you to manage the car share scheme. Liftshare are always on hand to help should you need any ideas as to how to promote the scheme, or advice on how to use the statistics."
